EDC - Tanzania Head Offices

EDC - Tanzania Headquarter in Mwanza City
The EDC - Tanzania head office is in Mwanza City, located at Nyamagana District, Capri-point ward around Hesawa Street. The office is in the same compound with Lake Zone Mining Office which is under the Ministry of Minerals and Energy - United Republic of Tanzania.

The office is located in the mid of beautiful nature which connects with ideas of EDC Tanzania organization. It is built on top of granite rock, of which is one of many rocks that made Mwanza City to be reffered as  "The Rock City of Tanzania". Other species that can be found in the compound are lizards, birds, butterflies, porcupines, ants etc.

It is about a quarter kilometer walking distance to the shores of Lake Victoria, located very close to Bismark Rock (on the north) the famous rock holding Rock City Identity. It is in the midst distance between Tilapia hotel (South-East) and Chinese Restaurant (North), very close to Mwanza Yatch Club (South-East) and City center (North-East).

Introduction of EDC-Tanzania

EDC - Tanzania Organization Logo
EDC-Tanzania is a non-profit organization established in 2011 devoted to support environmental development in Tanzania. 

EDC - Tanzania promotes awareness and mobilize people's participation for preservation and conservation of environment in Tanzania.


Most of the activities implemented by EDC - Tanzania support the six areas of its objectives, which are:


1: To promote environmental awareness among all sections of the society;

2: To promote environmental education through existing educational/scientific/research institutions;


3: To mobilize people's participation for preservation and conservation of environment;


4:To promote tourism growth on nature/environment inside and outside Tanzania;


5: To promote and improve the standard and quality of tourism movements in Tanzania;


6: To improve environmental scenes of cities, towns and public areas in Tanzania.



EDC-Tanzania collaborates with different development stakeholders to implement its works, some of these stakeholders are close partners of EDC, to mention some:


  • UNEP-GRIDA Arendal, Norway: a center collaborating with United Nations Environment Program. www.grida.no/about
  • Government: Arendal, Norway and Mwanza, Tanzania City Councils - through Municipal International Cooperation (MIC) on Waste Management Project
